You will take classes in blueprint reading. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to operate a welder.
What skills do I need to start school?
You must be detail oriented and have good hand eye coordination. This is a very physical job, so you must have good physical stamina and good physical strength.
What can I do with a certificate?
You can get an entry-level job in welding.
How long does it take to complete a certificate?
It depends on your school. Some schools offer a certificate that takes one semester to complete. Some schools offer two semester programs. Some offer programs that take three semesters.
What are the next steps in a pathway?
Many schools offer several short-term stackable certificates. You can transfer your credits to an associate’s degree.
What can I do with an associate’s degree?
An associate’s degree prepares you to take an industry certification exam.
What are some challenges?
You may need to work outdoors, even in bad or hot weather. You can’t be afraid of heights because you might work on a scaffold, high off the ground. You may need to lift heavy objects. Working in factories can be hot and dirty.
